The Karnataka government has made Kannada a compulsory subject in all schools irrespective of boards across the state. The government, however, is brushing a bigger problem under the carpet. Neither has the government prescribed textbooks to be used for first, second and third language nor are there enough textbooks. <br />ಇಡೀ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿನ ಎಲ್ಲ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಒಂದು ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಕಲಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರಕಾರ ಕಡ್ಡಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಯಾವ ಪಠ್ಯಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಥಮ, ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಅಥವಾ ತೃತೀಯ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾಪಿಸಿಲ್ಲ. <br /> <br /> <br />
